Royal Wedding vs. Dream Wedding

After the glamour, glitz, media and vows have come and gone in the end a wedding is the union of two people, the joining of two families. Of course most girls fantasize about what their dream wedding will be composed of from the dress to the location to the food, but is a royal wedding really the dream wedding? I think not, as a symbol of the british monarchy every aspect of that wedding has standards that it must live up to. Her dress, shoes, makeup, the food, the carriage, even the color of the horses must be within the guidelines of what is appropriate for a future queen. That said, yes I'm sure Kate had some say in the details of the day, but her decisions were most likely chosen from a narrow list of details already approved by some monarchy council. When little girls begin to design their dream wedding they aren't necessarily choosing from a predetermined list, after all thats the point of a dream wedding. Yes, the royal wedding of William and Katherine was gorgeous and no detail was left unchecked, but the rigid guidelines and restrictions to me would not be worth it. Not to mention that your day is supposed to be an intimate, emotional experience, and I don't think having everyone in the world watching would constitute the intimacy I would want on that special day. I definitely wouldn't want to be under the scrutiny of Joan Rivers because of what I wore, or what food I served. All in all, I think that dream weddings are just that a way to think outside the box and create something that means something to you. Maybe for Kate that was her dream wedding, but to me I need a little more creative freedom and independence in planning my dream wedding.

Technology on the Rise

Technology has been around for as long as anyone can remember.  From desktops, video games, hand held games, cell phones to laptops...now there are tablets.  Apple has the iPad, Motorola with the Xoom, and Samsung with the Galaxy.  Companies are always coming out with the latest and greatest for consumers to become obsessed with and spend their money on and thats what the three companies did.
With the battle between the three tablets, there was the battle between people getting the hand held computer into their own hands.  The question is which one is #1?  That decision always ends up coming from the consumers.  They are the ones using the items day in and day out, not putting them down.  The next question is is it really worth the money?  With new editions constantly coming out, why spend the money on the first edition of things.  Granted all three tablets make things very convenient, but will they ever be exactly what people want in a product?  Will it ever meet every standard all types of consumers want?

Chris Brown: Positive or Negative Role Model?

Celebrities are always in the spotlight whether it is when they are performing and doing interviews or having  stories printed in magazines.  You would think they would always be on their best behavior knowing that they are constantly being followed and their actions are going to be broadcasted for the world to see, right?  WRONG!

Not only are there adults looking up to celebrities as role models, but children and teens as well.  It is great to look up to celebrities and want to be like them and do the things they do but some times they are not always caught doing the "right" or best things.  Half of the time, articles/videos/photos portray celebrities as crazy and not stable.  Some times I think that people forget that celebrities are HUMAN too.

That leads me to Chris Brown.  He has been in the spotlight since the age of 16 as an innocent teen trying to make it big in the music industry and is now a successful 21 year old musician, songwriter, dancer, and actor. With millions of people supporting his career and looking up to him, he has made a name for himself that people will probably never forget.

The real question is whether or not he is a positive or negative role model after the series of events that have gone on in his life in the last two years.  There is the image of Chris Brown as a fun loving, happy go lucky artist that people love and then there is the image of Chris Brown as an unstable, high tempered, tattooed guy that people do not think he should be able to do what he does.

His actions against previous girlfriend Rihanna were in no means positive.  He dealt with the consequences and has moved on with his life.  It has been 2 years since the incident and he is trying to put that in the past.  After performing community service and learning how to deal with his anger and learning more about himself as a person, he has moved on to continue making his music.  As he has grown as an artist, his music has grown as well.  It is more vulgar and he speaks about topics that may not be for the younger crowds.  With his latest outrage on Good Morning, America because interviewer Robin crossed the line while asking questions about the previous incident with Rihanna, it raises the question of whether or not he truly is a good or negative role model.

So, if EVERYTHING is taken into consideration, positive and negative, while remembering that Chris Brown is a human being as well as a celebrity..will Chris Brown ever be on top of his game is all aspects and not just in regards to music?  Will all of the media done on him ever be positive?

...how much is TOO much?

MTV has been infamous for airing shows that have caused controversy for years.  With all of the reality shows, music videos, and series, they have managed to stir up things for viewers of all ages.  But when does it become too much?

To start off 2011, MTV aired their new show "Skins".  The controversial plot line explores issues such as dysfunctional families, mental issues (including eating disorders), sexual orientation identity, substance abuse and death.  Being that the social norm has changed, it makes you wonder what is the norm and if one evens exists anymore.

Although "Skins" is hitting on issues that teenagers deal with each and every day, parents are not happy with what their children are watching.  On that note, does it make it okay for this to air or should parents buckle down on what they allow their children to watch?  Parents are angry because they do not want their kids exposed to these kind of things but do they REALLY know what their kids do on a day to day basis?  For all they know their kids are dealing with the same issues but it goes unknown and unspoken about because their kids are scared to speak up about it.

So...is it okay for MTV to be airing "Skins" or are parents right when it comes to it being too much for the eyes of teenagers or viewers of all ages?  Would you react the same way if you were a parent compared to being a high school or college student?  Only you are able to determine that decisions when it comes to your own children.
